How to track account balances month by month on iPhone

A simple way to see whether your money is moving in the right direction.

A monthly budget tells you what happened to spending. A balance tracker tells you what happened to the bigger picture: cash, savings, credit cards, and the total change across your accounts.

The simple problem

You want to know whether your financial position improved this month. Checking one bank account is not enough if money also moved through a credit card, savings account, cash wallet, or another household account.

Wise Budget's Tracker view puts those account balances in one month-by-month table so you can compare the total change instead of rebuilding the same spreadsheet every month.

Step 1: Pick the year and month

Open Tracker and choose the period you want to review. Wise Budget keeps the account list and month columns together, so you can scan the current month beside the previous and next month.

Step 2: Review each account balance

Look at each account row: checking, savings, cash, credit cards, or any custom account you use. Positive and negative values make it easier to see where money increased and where debt or spending changed the picture.

Step 3: Use the total row

The most useful number is often the total. If one account went down because a credit card was paid off, the total row helps you avoid misreading that as a bad month. It shows the combined position across the accounts you track.

Step 4: Watch the monthly change

The change row answers the practical question: did the month move you forward or backward? That makes Tracker useful for savings goals, debt payoff, and household budgeting because it connects everyday entries to the bigger monthly result.

Why this helps

A budget can tell you that groceries, housing, or subscriptions were high. Tracker shows whether the whole month still worked. When both views are together, it is easier to make small adjustments before the next month starts.
